Essential Clothing

• 3 x warm wool or polar fleece jumpers - school fleeces are appropriate (hoodies are not appropriate for hiking and wet weather days);
• 1 x jumper suitable for wearing while exercising or spending time around campus;
• 4 x t-shirts - may be short or long sleeved, however tank tops/singlets are not permitted;
• 3 x long-sleeved, collared lightweight shirt for hiking and class activities - please avoid cotton and flannelette and look for quick drying fabrics;
• 2 x pairs of shorts (mid-thigh length) of which at least one must be quick drying;
• 2 x pairs of long pants (at least one must be quick drying - please avoid jeans or heavy cotton);
• 2 x sets (top and bottom) of thermal or wool base layers - no cotton/acrylic leggings;
• 7 x underwear;
• 3 x everyday socks;
• 3 x hiking socks - wool/explorer socks;
• 1 x thick socks - for at night when camping/sleeping;
• 1 x pair warm pyjamas;
• Set of casual clothes for wear around campus
• Bathers (one-piece for females);
• Wide-brimmed sun hat with chin strap or cord is compulsory - no caps please;
• Woollen or polar fleece beanie and gloves; and
• Sunglasses - sturdy polarised glasses are ideal.

Essential Shoes

• One pair of sturdy shoes - Blundstone style boots are ideal - no canvas shoes or Volleys;
• Good quality running shoes;
• High quality, waterproof, breathable hiking boots - suitable for wet conditions, deep mud and rough terrain. Start to wear these well prior to leaving to break them in;
• 1 x pair of crocs or similar - without holes if possible please, with holes are preferable to not having any; and
• Slippers - ideal for wearing inside where shoes are not permitted.

Essential Outdoor Gear

• Waterproof rain jacket - this must be of high quality and be waterproof, windproof, breathable, cover the hips and have an adequate hood for heavy rains;
• Waterproof overpants - these must be of high quality and be waterproof and windproof - breathable is also ideal;
• 3 x strong water bottle, each with a minimum capacity of 1 litre - sports bottles are not adequate.
• Head Torch, with spare batteries;
• Daypack - large enough to carry rain jacket and over pants, 2 water bottles, lunch, and extra warm clothes - approximately 25 litres. A waist buckle for extra back support is ideal;
• Fork and spoon for overnight hikes;
• Sturdy plastic bowl and mug for overnight hikes; and
• Sturdy plastic whistle on lanyard.

Essential Bedding

• Students are provided with a bed, mattress and mattress protector, but need to bring:
• 2 x fitted single sheets (note: If you are over 185cm tall and would like to be allocated to a 'Long Single' mattress you need to communicate this to the Co-Head of Campus prior to attending Yuulong.);
• 1 x single bed doona and doona cover;
• 2 x pillow slips;
• 1 x pillow;
• 1 x sleeping bag suitable for overnight hiking - at least 3-season down or Dacron bag with a warmth rating to -5/-3 degrees. Please ensure the bag is able to compress down to the size of about two netballs (maximum). A good sleeping bag in good condition is VERY important!;
• 1 x sleeping bag liner - to provide extra warmth and to keep the sleeping bag clean; and
• 1 x compression sack for oversized sleeping bags (garbage bag).

Essential Personal Items

• 1 x bath towel and 1 x hooded poncho towel;
• Collapsible laundry bag;
• Watch with alarm or small battery alarm clock;
• Personal medical requirements (including asthma medication and EpiPens);
• Personal toiletries (no aerosols) - toothbrush, toothpaste and other required items - please keep these to a minimum;
• Sunscreen;
• Writing paper, business-sized envelopes - at least 10 for weekly letters home, and stamps - at least 2 x 10 stamp booklets;
• Swimming goggles;
• 3 x medium (named) Tupperware-style containers;
• 2 x small reusable containers (Tupperware, metal, or silicon-not glass). About the size of a large muffin.
• 2 x calico bags or 'green' shopping bags (optional - this is something they could put all their hike food in)
• 2 x reusable lunch wraps (Onya Lunch Wraps (onyalife.com)
• 2 x small draw string produce bags to put in dried fruit or vegetables in, preferably solid and not mesh like.
• Photocopy of Medicare card;
• 4 x large garbage bags - for waterproofing items when hiking;
• 1 x small personal first aid kit (basic, no medication)
• 1 x roll of sports strapping tape;
• 2 x packets of blister patches - e.g. Compeed Blister Patches; and
• 2 x small personal hand sanitiser bottles.
• 1 x collapsible storage bag (Jumbo Checkered Storage Bag - Assorted* | BIG W)

Essential Academic Items

Subject specific items for Mathematics and English will be listed before each term.

• Pencil case with - pens, pencils, eraser, whiteboard marker (min x 3), etc.;
• Mini-whiteboard;
• 1 x sturdy lined spiral-type 5 subject exercise book;
• Student Diary;
• CAS calculator and charger; and
• 1 x pack flashcards/cue cards

Optional Items

The items listed below are optional items, and may be brought at parent's/student's discretion.

Optional Outdoor Gear

• Wetsuit cap (winter) or surf hat with chin strap (summer) - highly recommended;
• Wetsuit (please note that wetsuits and wetsuit booties are currently supplied by the surf instructing company, 'Go Ride a Wave');
• Dry bags (8,13,20 litres); and
• Sleeping mat.

Optional Additional Items

• Photos of family, friends, pets to put on the personal pin board provided for each student in their dorm (note: blu-tack is not permitted on any surfaces);
• Playing cards;
• Musical instrument;
• Novels;
• Journal;
• Wool and knitting or crochet needles; and
• Bracelet making string (very popular)
• Small quick dry towel; and

Spending Money

Parents are asked not to send EFTPOS and/or credit cards with their child; they are not permitted.

• $10-$15per week - $100 max per term - should be brought down in $5, $10 and $20 notes. This money will be held by staff in the campus 'bank'. This should be brought in a named envelope and students will be able to sign out $10 per week.
